What to watch out on Royal Caribbean Cruise

Jump to last reply

We had the 4th cruise with Royal Caribbean last week with Oasis and we noticed they all about business making money now. They getting more un polite and sometimes rude. Unlike the first 3 cruises I had personnel were much more respecting.

Here are some disappointments:

1. They asked to pay for using the Sauna and Steam room ($30+ a day, or $100 for whole 7 days). The guy at the reception was rude and a smart as*s. The previous 3 cruises the Sauna and steam were free.

2. If you from US you are allowed only $1,600 tax free merchandise. If you buy for example a watch for $4,000 they tell you is tax free, but the truth is that only $1,600 is tax free and you pay tax for the rest. The worse part is that they provide a list of names to the customs of people purchased more than $1,600 on the ship and you have to pay the tax. You better off not buying anything expensive from the ship because you can not hide it. Royal Caribbean will not respect your privacy.

3. Oasis of the seas and Allure can take about 6,000 passengers. The big theater can take about 1,500 passengers. You have to reserve every show and they will only let you in if there are seat left last few minutes. In other words, the ship got much bigger, but the size of seatings is still the same including the buffet area. Many times they stop you at the entrance and don't let you get in to eat when is full.

4. If your not getting balcony rooms you will not get some of amenities like Lotion, pen, etc.

5. The internet I paid $55 for 99 mins, but was so slow and many times could not login because is overcrowded. Out of 99 mins I was able to access my e-mail 4 times and read quickly and logout.

6. For massage they charge $120 for 40 mins. So if you planning to use any spa services be ready to pay a very high price. I can have massage in New york for $35/hr, or $50 per 1 1/2 hr.

I still like Royal Caribbean and will always travel with Royal Caribbean, but I know now what to expect. I hope they don't get worse and all they care is making money and forget about the good service.
