I am going on a 7 day cruise on the Star Princess March 30-April 6th. We're stopping at Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Any recommendations on things to do there? Which excursion agencies should we use, which should we avoid? ANy comments about the Star Princess? Thanks for any info!!

I posted a review of my December Sea Princess cruise (same itinerary) on this site:
http://pub66.ezboard.com/fcruising78624frm12.showMessage?topicID=2.topic
You'll find some shore information in my review (scroll down to "ports" if you don't want to read the whole thing). We usually prefer to deal with local tour operators vs. the cruise line for our excursions but that is up to your comfort level.
It's going to be difficult to find any comments about the Star at this time as the inaugural cruise doesn't end until March 10th. BTW I'll be on the Star March 10th 2 day "cruise to nowhere". I'll let you know what I thought of the ship after I get back. Or if there's something specific you'd like me to find out, feel free to email me before I leave.
If you want the website for horseback riding in Mazatlan, email me. Randi is a transplanted American who owns and operates a horseback riding business thru a coconut plantation and then onto the beach. It is very reasonable and she is delightful.
Thanks for your replies!! Patty, I found the trip write-up extremely interesting and helpful. One more question....should I be worried about getting sick if I eat any of the food in port? Or do all of those areas use treated water?
Thanks!
Heather
Heather,
We dined at local restaurants at each port and didn't have any problems with the food. I have a pretty sensitive stomach so I'm usually a pretty good gauge. Glad you found my review helpful.
Heather I can tell you many great places to eat while in Mazatlan. If you want the names of them email me and I wiil tell you about them. If you want to relax by a pool or on the beach the El Cid is a great place to relax. What time are you off the ship and what time do you have to return would help on some of the thing to do times.
