Western or Eastern Caribean?
Okay, husband and I are booking a cruise. What does everyone suggest...the Eastern or Western Caribean? At first we were planning on doing the Panama Canal but we only have 7 - 10 days. Any cruiseline preference? Appreciate any tips! Thanks.

What age group are you? This may help determine what cruiseline you may be interested in. Also, what do you like doing?

Eastern is great for shopping. St. Thomas is probably the most popular shopping place. St. Thomas/St. John is also very good for snorkeling.

Western is great for diving and snorkeling. Stingray City is very popular for snorkeling in the Caymens. The ruins are also very popular on the western itiniary. Cozumel also has great shopping.

I try to avoid Ocho Rios or any port in Jaimaca. I find the place unsafe to walk around.

Princess is my favorite cruiseline. I love their private island "Princess Cays".

I find the eastern itiniary more relaxing.

Mari, just got back from the Western Caribbean. I suggest going eastern. Mexico is Mexico no matter what side of the country you are on. You sound like you are in about the same age group so i can only tell you of the exeriences we have had. The best we found has also been the southern Caribbean-did a few differnt curise lines and Princess is still at the top of our list, although i have been hearing tons of great things about Celebrity lines. Good luck and don't be reserved, get involved with the ship activities from day one and you will have a blast.
