Has anyone been married on a cruise ship? My son and his fiancee are planning a small wedding next February 14 on a long weekend cruise. Guest board on Friday afternoon for the ceremony and small reception. Some guests will stay on board for the weekend cruise, the others leave the ship before it leaves port about 5:30 pm. Has anyone done this or been invited to this type of wedding? What was it like? Any info would be appreciated. The cruise line is Carnival. Thanks

Myrna - My Sister was married on a cruise ship from Miami to Nassau and back (4-day cruise)years ago aboard Admiral Cruise Lines (bought out by Royal Caribbean years later). Her 54 guests all stayed onboard for the cruise. My advice, be sure everyone attending tells the cruise reps at embarkation that they are attending a wedding onboard, so they will let the guests on first and quickly. My brother in law was late getting ready, which delayed the wedding by 1/2 hour, and they actually sounded the lifeboat drill while the 1-hour reception was going on. Everyone (i.e., the bride and groom, as well as the guests) should give themselves plenty of time and BE ON TIME. Lifeboat drills wait for no man, and they do take head counts to be sure everyone is accounted for in their proper muster (group you are assigned to report to in lifeboat drills). My Sister (in her wedding gown) had her life preserver on during muster. Have fun. People will talk about the cruise-ship wedding they attended for years to come, so make it memorable!

Thanks Cruztraveler. I'm surprised they had so many guests continue with the cruise. That's wonderful to hear. My son lives on the west coast and all of the bride's and our families live on the east coast. Most of their families will not be making the trip, so they thought the cruise wedding would be a nice memory for themselves and hopefully some of their friends would join them for the trip. <BR><BR>Anyone else have some info to share.
