Voyager questions

Can someone please answers these questions for me? I am travelling with 13 family members. How do I request tables at dinner that are by the window? Is it nice to be by the window (main seating) on this cruise? Would have liked to have been by the window on the Alaskan cruise to spot whales.

The "leaded" drink cards entitle you to what? Standard drinks or tropical drinks? What is the charge. Can you bring liquor purchases from islands to your room?

I booked with Captain Marvin and when I did the women told me the boat would have 18 people on it including our 13, because it is "off" season in the Carb. 88 degrees with 90% humidity. Can this humidity be felt on the ocean? (We go in two weeks).

Do you recommend doing Dunn Fall's on our own? Do they have van taxi's in ports?

Thank you! Cyn

In Ocho Rios - take the ship's tour. I have heard too many stories of cab drivers robbing people and leaving them across the island. Or try to book with Peat Taylor - a private tour guide who has a good reputation.

Don't know about humidity but Capt Marvin's trip is great!

Hi Cyn,

Very slim chance of getting tables by the windows. You travel agent can fax in the request and keep your fingers crossed.

The Royal Cocktail Card costs $39 + 15% gratuity. You will receive 12 coupons.

House wines, no premium liquor, glasses only - no full bottles. No mini-bar.

So if wine or a cocktail costs $3.50 plus tip you would be paying about $50. Therefore the Cocktail Card is a good deal.

I hope no one comes down on me for advertising here.

Paul

Actually, the last time I traveled with a group rather than my immediate family, we had ten people and saw the Maitre die (never know if I spell this right) when we got on the ship and he arranged for all of us to change table assignments and put us at one big table by the windows on the third deck of the Explorer restaurant. Sometimes they are very accomodating and sometimes they aren't.

And by the way, my math skills aren't as good as Paul's, but I think you'll save about $3.50-3.75 by buying the card. Really, no big deal.

When we were on the Sea Princess, we did the Western and Ocho Rios. The natives are very bold and pesky. We took a catamaran tour that we booked on our own (sorry, can't remember the name of the company) and took it directly to the beach in front of Dunns River Falls - thereby missing a lot of the natives from the road down to the beginning of the excursion. They take a video of every group going up the falls (actually walk with you) - buy it, its well worth the $25. We still watch it and laugh.
