Vacations to go-reputable?
Hello:
I checked out this site and noticed there is such a difference in their cruise prices (cheaper!) They quote their "our starting price" Once you start the booking process does the price drastically go up? How can they quote prices so much lower than the cruise co.'s own websites?
I absolutely need a wheelchair accessible cabin. Will they guarantee this?
Thanks

Have used VTG on several occasions, including a group cruise for 40+ people. They are a reputable company and your assigned agent is readily accessable by telephone. The prices shown on their web-site should include port charges but not taxes; that's about the only increase you should see over the "quoted" price. It's not unusual for internet cruise travel agencies to beat cruiseline prices.

I use them all the time (approx 4 cruises/year) and highly recommend them. Norman Gilbert (ext 214) is like my regular travel agent--highly recommended! He's practically on my speed dial. (I promise I'm a real customer and have never met the man!)

used them for a cruise and was impressed by how efficient they were. Our agent, Austin was great. We spoke with him several times. We did have a problem with our cruise and it was handled well. I`d use them again. We also had follow up from them after the cruise.

We have used them a lot and they are great. The prices for inside, outside, balcony and suite (which means mini suite) are displayed on the web site. It is a great resource for initial searching and planning as well as for booking.

This agency is very large and usually gets good reviews. Of course, with any big organization you never know what will be up with whatever individual agent you get, but more than likely you'll hav a good experience.
Before booking, though, do put in a price request on http://www.CruiseCompete.com and see if there's an agency there that will beat it. (This site gets you competing quotes from various agencies).
Good luck!

I get their emails with their prices but have AWAYS been able to find lower prices for same cruse. This year we did 10 days, deck 9, Sun Princess for $499, 7 days, deck 9, Costa Magica for $299. Last year we got a balcony cabin also deck 9 for $299 on Costa Magica! You have to hunt for good prices but they are there!

This is something new. I never heard of cruise line matching agency price. I did try that but cruise line rep told me that if I book with cruise line, the price is set, while agencies may discount it. And I don't understand $22 for gov. fees. If you mean that Carnival would refund gov. fees, I seriously doubt it.

our experiences with VTG are uniformly positive. We DEEPLY regret the one time we went with a marginally cheaper company.... and even knowing we had booked with another company, they were helpful in providing advice on how to keep from being (further) fleeced by them!

Stay away from Vacations To Go....my family and I (12 of us, 5 of whom were children) recently booked a Disney Cruise vacation through Vacations To Go. We booked back in January for a June cruise. Imagine our surprise when we checked in, we were informed that our three deluxe staterooms were not together. Not only were they not together, they were on completely opposite ends of the ship. This made our vacation very difficult. Mr. Moon should have make the effort to put our rooms together, considering that we all booked together on the same reservation. Shame on them!!!!

Jade: It seems you did not ask for the cabins to be together but assumed they would be. I agree that the agent was a bit remiss in not considering this, esp. as he knew of the childrens ages but you too are responsible as well for not specifying ahead of time and for not noticing the disparity after the cabins were assigned. Katy is right as you should have paid attention to the cabin numbers you were assigned to. Sorry but I think you could have been more diligent. Leave as little to chance as possible.

This is why I make my own reservations. I've met several people on the cruises who were not happy with the travel agents setting them up for upgrades, in one case they were scattered over the ship, not even on the same level.
Some cruise companies have a button on their website whether or not you want to upgrade. If you miss to (un)mark it, you are doomed for a move.
And you know your confirmed cabin number only after you've paid the full price when it's too late to make changes.
But I don't agree with that new poster who'd pulled up the old thread - it's not only Vacations To Go, other TAs do it too.

We just completed our second cruise this year, one in March and one in May, both booked with vacationstogo. No problems and agents were very helpful. They gave advice about choosing a cruise, tours and selecting a cabin. They efficiently handled special requests to the cruise line concerning disembarking. Someone was available to answer questions every time I called. The agents stayed in contact with me via e-mails both before and after the cruises. I will book my next cruise through them.
I do think, however, that the agent should have thought about the family needing cabins together. You would think, as a parent, you would think of that, but you might not because you think anyone would just automatically put families together. I once had a hotel give me two rooms on the same hall, but several rooms apart. I had booked them weeks before and all other rooms were taken when we arrived, so nothing could be done. Lesson learned: Others people don't always think about kids needing to be close to parents, so parents have to remind them.

I am about to go on the 4th cruise booked with Vacations to Go. We always travel with several families, and had as many as 16 people involved. We work with Carson every time, and he always helps us plan a great vacation. He gives great ongoing service, such as contacting us when a special deal comes through for an upgrade on a trip we have booked. Vacations to Go also gives us freebies such as bottles of wine in our room, and coupon books with more freebies and discounts. I do not know how they do it, but their prices are always better than if we booked with the line itself.
