Would you recommend getting trip insurance? I would much rather spend that money someplace else along my travels, but will buy it if it really is necessary.

Hi Luci,
One has to define insurance. It is purchased to protect you for the unforseen and unexpected. It is for peace-of-mind and is money well spent.
Who would have known the attack on us would ever occur. This is only one example.
If you read one of the policies you will see how complete the coverages are.
It is only the price of a couple of oil changes for your car. Ask yourself why you change the oil in your car. It is to prevent something serious that may occur. It is like insurance.
Have your travel agent explain the different prices and coverages of a few companies.
Have a wonderful and safe cruise.
Paul
I just got my check from the insurance I took out on the weekend before Renaissance went broke. Enough said.

I had to cancel my cruise that I was supposed to be on this week due to my mom having bypass surgery.
If you have parents or kids - definitely buy insurance.
If your insurance doesn't cover you out of the country and/or are independently wealthy and can afford medical air transport back to the US at $20,000 per flight then don't purchase it.
Also - think of that stupid individual who breached Atlanta's security this past week and closed the airport for all most a day. What if you missed your flight due to an individual like that.
Insurance is a MUST. Now I would never cruise without it.
