Suggestion on Cruise in the Great Lakes

My friends asked me to check about the river cruises in the Great Lakes.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to join them. They are planning to take a 16 day adventurous cruise trip in the Great Lakes touching major ports. Their itinerary looks stunning. https://www.blountsmallshipadventure...s/default.aspx Everyday is filled with programs.
Has anyone been to the cruise in the Great Lake? Can you share your suggestions?

Sorry but until now I never even heard of this.

However if you come to Chicago I can give tons of restaurant suggestions.

Upon looking minimum 10k for two plus $600.00 port charges for 15 nights seems quite expensive.

I don't think the expense would be an issue for them. But, do you think is it worth it?

No way, not even close. For that money you can do say a Med cruise or the Baltic and add the air fare too and you get so much more on an ocean cruise. I mean do you want say Cleveland or Rome or so many other great port cities?

For the price, definitely not value for $$. However, for European travelers, this maybe an opportunity to have many stops in 16 days.

The ship holds about 100 passengers and offers no entertainment venues. There is a dining room and a lounge and that's about it. Not even sure what's included with the fare, food, drinks, excursions?

Here is what a cruise ship has that the Great lakes boat doesn't have;

Entertainment.
There is a variety of programs every night.

Multiple dining choices.
In addition to the MDR there are plenty of other venues to choose from. The range is speciality restaurants with various ethnic choices to pizza and hot dogs.

Multiple watering holes. .
Cruise ships have many bars to choose from and some have entertainment.

Normally great service.

Better port stops.
Depending on where you cruise to you can see some of the great cities of the world, some of the great sites, maybe world heritage sites or relaxing Caribbean ports or say Alaska, the last frontier.

Duty free shops.

Crews trained to do their best to provide excellent hospitality.

An ambiance that can't be measured.

I suppose I have missed something but you get the idea.

Cheers, Larry. .

Many people prefer to stay in North America and these lake and river cruises give them a nice cruise option. It is a well known company with multiple cruises in US rivers.
