Steep cruise discounts

Have you guys noticed the sudden drop in prices on cruises to The Bahamas and the Carribean from Florida (and from Baltimore and NY) for the next few weeks? Is it the recent storm or just the season or the economy this year?

They are the lowest I have seen them since I started looking for our first cruise a few years ago. Some four-day for as little as $109. How can the companies make money?

We have to just pick something and go! Hope some of you can also take advantage of the sale.

I noticed! We booked 3 weeks ago for a 5 day that is departing on Monday. Paid $189 each for an OV. With taxes and gratuities it's still less than just the cost of a hotel for 5 nights.

We may not even get off the ship since we don't really care for Nassau and the forecast is calling for rain.

We feel the same. I must pick something. Too good to pass up a bit of relaxation and pampering, and just being with DH with no distractions or obligations.

I wish we could go, but we just got back from a recent trip. I never seem to be able to get the good deals.

We haven't done it either. Too many things came up. Sigh.

Often the price goes down after full payment. They don't want any empty cabins, so "last moment" cruises are cheap.

How do they make money? By selling alcohol, land tours, souvenirs, food, specialty coffees, fresh-squeezed orange juice and what not!

Plus photo packages at the formal nights, art, casino gambling, shore excursions, etc. ad infinitum.
