Star Clipper Sailing in February

My husband just booked us for a cruise sailing from St. Maarten on February 3.

Has anyone gone on this ship or cruise line recently?

Thanks!

Not recently but I was on Star Clipper in the Med years ago. Anything in particular you wanted to know?

The overall experience was nice but I did not care for the motion during rougher weather. I also need a good workout facility and sorely missed that.

Food and service were casual and good.

We met some great people but I prefer a more traditional and formal cruise.

Hi there,

Nothing specific, so what you wrote is perfect...Just trying to get a sense of what all to expect.

We've done three of the larger cruises, including a Celebrity around South America in March this year.

We thought we'd try a smaller ship for a change, and we don't know anyone personally who has gone on one.

Usually I'm okay with rough weather (our March cruise was unbelievable with the rough weather - winds of 100mph, and waves 30 ft high) but of course that was on larger ships, I'm sure it will be a different story on these sailboats.

Thanks,
TE

In the Caribbean, I think you will be fine.

The ship is very nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. I am spoiled these days with a balcony and large cabin and that is not available on these ships.

Food was fresh and plentiful. Fellow passengers a really interesting mix.

If you go to the cruisecritic.com site you will find much more recent info.

Have a great cruise and I would really love to know your thoughts when you return!

You know, I guess I should have also mentioned that I'm going to be about 21 weeks pregnant when we go...hah! This should be interesting!

I got cancellation insurance in case my doctor says I can't go, but I did check with both the cruise line and the airlines and I'm okay according to their rules.

I think it will be a nice getaway especially for the weather (I'm in Toronto and February is COOOOLD).

I will definitely post a review when I get back.
