Hi - I'm looking for some suggestions for a South American cruise around Christmas this coming December. We are cruising novices. The first and only cruise we've taken was a Royal Caribbean cruise around the Western Caribbean. We weren't big fans of the cruise line, the assigned seating at dinner, and the formal nights. This time we're looking for something more laidback. I had hoped to get to see some of Patagonia and Antarctica, but don't know if this is possible with the less than 14 day time constraint. At this beginning exploratory stage, price isn't really an issue. We just want to get a sense of what's out there and the experiences of other travelers. Thanks!

Oops - December 2009!
just started researching for my son...for his family christmas present...(I may go as well )...he is a one time cruiser..but after a Navy career ...why would he want to take a cruise....we are at 25 and counting......(first was in 2003)
you have a dilemma......14 days is bare min to do what u want to do....but it is "doable".....prob is SA/ANT cruises are very different due to climate....DUH >>>
range from "cargo" ships to HAL....HAL and then up to 6 star ship lines.so very is white glove....that is demographic....mostly wealthy retirees....when enters market that is what you will like..but alas NCL has not done that market as they mostly have warm water thin hull ships....if u like the amenities of a "REAL CRUISE" ship...spa etc concierge etc
I suggest you wait till Celebrity Infinity finishes the Panama Canal season..(we are doing 14 days at Thanksgiving) and do their ...Jan?FEB 14 day as is round trip RIO...so airfare is pretty easy.....you did not say where your start point was...but I ll willing to share data with you ...just contact me..as I am off to cabo tomorrow.....but will be checking e mails
