Some questions about Celebrity cruises

I will be on a Celebrity cruise later this year. I've never been on a cruise before, I have some questions and I apologize if many of you think that these are stupid questions.

What if supplied on board by means of toiletteries, soap/shampoo, etc. or, should I bring my own.

How do I tip the crew, is there a mandatory gratuity added to my account, or do I need to have envelopes and cash handy to tip the staff that have been seeing to me.

How old would most passengers be? This is a cruise to the Medittereanan.

I am travelling by myself, what would there be to do on a sea day?

Is it possible to wash clothes onboard, do I need to have change to insert into the washing machines/dryers?

What should I make sure I take onboard at the first port to have handy during the cruise. I will be taking bottled water, I can't think of anything else I should buy to take onboard at this time.

Any tips/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

All soaps, shamppo, bodyltoion etc.will be in your bathroom. No need to take them.
You shipaccount will be charged for $ 10.- per person per day for all gratuities. (cabinsteward, diningroom etc.).
Separate drinks will have 15% gratuities included and also will be on your shipaccount.
Only if you needed special service you might tip extra. For e.g.roomservice we usually tip about $ 1.- (drinks) or $ 2.- Meals) extra to the person that brings it in your cabin.
Most passengers will be around 50, often the europeans might be a little younger. In any case most will be very active with such an itinary.
During seadays many activities will take place. Read the daily bulletins which you will find the evening before in your cabin. But just relax and do nothing is of course also an option.
On Celebrity there are no washing machines. Either do a handwash or give it for laundry. You will find a list with prices in your cabin.
Apart from water it depends if you want to drink wine, maybe some cookies or sweets in your cabin.
But you will always find many nice things to eat and drink on the Lido Buffet area which are incl. in your cruise.
Have a great time!

while Ida has given some good info, you might want to bone up on Celebrity by going to www.cruisecritic.com & registering for free. Under Celebrity category find your ship for further info.

One thing - the laundry is very reasonably priced on Celebrity.... Nice line. You say you're going later this year - so the assumption is that you're going during school, so there probably would be very few children on the cruise - and probably older adults (40s/50s) - and the Med tends to draw that crowd anyway since it's so much more expensive than a Caribbean cruise... (or at least people with good disposable income). There are normally tons of things to do during seadays, and it will be published on the ship. As recommended - go to Cruise Critic and you can find a bunch of info on that specific cruise - and also start to meet other people that will be on the ship with you. I would also take my own toiletries, at least shampoo, since my hair reacts differently to different products - but that is up to you. I always use their soap..... Have a GREAT time.... you'll love it!

We have just gotten off our third Celebrity t/a cruise.. You don't mention which ship your thinking about.. One thing is for sure that service will be excellent..If you are going on a Caribbean cruise you may have children...especially during school vacation or holidays.. Celebrity is several steps up from RCCL, Carnival and NCL.. The Lido deck has great buffets something I usually rush away from.. whether it's breafast or lunch.. Toiletries will be in your cabin and you only have to ask your cabin steward for anything you use up. As for the age group...well, Celebrity cruisers aren;t ones who want to go climbing walls or ice skating. What is there to do..oh my.. late run movies, cultural discussions, cards, all sorts of games and my favorite... sitting by the pool and jacuzzi--especially the days at sea. As mentioned before go to cruisecritic.com.. look up the exact cruise your going on and join the greet and meet.. .Our group had over 150 people and we had a fantastic time..

I think Celebrity is great. I think that it balances a lot of concerns. Like HAL passengers are too old, and Carnival is too party, etc. You will get toitetries, but you may prefer your own. The cruise lines always make tipping policies very clear. Laundry facilities are usually described in the lines brochures. A lot is available on sea days. I like to read. There are good libraries on many ships (esp HAL), but I always take a few books. And you will meet people on the ship. It's a closed town and people are friendly.
