Shore Excursions St. Pete

Can anyone recommend a private guide and driver for St Petersburg. We will be on Oceania regatta August 2008. Any advice on must sees or misses. Thanks

Look into:
Alla tours
Red October tours
Denrus tours.
All have received high praise but do be aware a private tour is quite $$$. The other option is to see if you can arrange a private tour through the ship.

We loved using Red October. They sent us a standard two day itinerary, and were very willing to customize it to our interests. For the four of us traveling together, it was cheaper than two full day shore excursions from the ship.

I recently returned from a Baltic cruise that took me to St.Petersburg for two days.

I used Alla Tours:
Here is her name and e-mail address.

Alla Ushakova

[email protected]

I started arranging this tour in late April,as soon as I knew I was going. (I went in late August).

At first there were only four of us in our group.

Then Alla asked me if a couple from Michigan and 4 from San Diego could join us ,Alla said it was my call if I only wanted to retain our group of 4 people.

I told her it was okay but to close it off now at 10 and no more.
It was just the right size and not those much larger cruise ship tours.

Alla's driver and guide were very prompt and met us at the dock way ahead of our scheduled time.

At the end of the second day Alla herself comes to the ship dock to meet you and Thank You personally.
She also gives you a DVD disk on St.Petersburg.

The price for us was $285.00 US$ for the two days( you pay at beginning of the second day.)
You can use a credit card if you want, I paid cash.

This was much cheaper than the cruise ship's much larger( people) tours.

Yes they do. The Russian tour agencies mentioned above provide the visa as does the ship if you tour thru them. Cheers, Larry

jacketwatch is correct.

If you have a private tour guide or do the ship tour you do not need a Visa.

The Visa cost about $80.00 if you are going to go out on your own.

I would advice that you do not do this!

This brings the cost of the two day tour now to about $200.00 ( when you minus the cost of a Visa).

Alla will e-mail you the tour tickets which the Customs Agents will ask for...(or maybe not BUT you better have them ready), also a copy of your passport as Customs will keep the passport copy and return your original passport to you.

You only need the passport copy for the first day...on the second day just show them your passport.

I posted a trip report onmy Baltic Cruise...just scroll down and bit and read the St.Petersburg section if you want.

Hey Percy how's it going? We are going to Wash. DC for a three day WE in Oct. BTW. It seems there is enough to do there to necessitate a week but three days is all we have. Cheers, Larry

Have a good time in Washington DC.

it is a nice place if you have not been there before.
History everywhere, and nice monuments.

I would like to go back again in late March or early April when the Cherry trees are in full bloom!
Have a good time

LAST AUG, MY HUSBAND & I DID THE BALTIC TOUR WITH PRINCESS. WE WENT ON LINE AND FOUND OUT ABOUT DENRUS TOURS WHICH WAS THE BEST DECISION WE MADE. ALL THE TOURS THEY OFFER ARE HALF THE PRICE THAT PRINCESS CHARGES. WE DID THE 2 DAYS TOUR WHICH WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP IN ST PETERSBURG. NICE CO. TO DEAL WITH.GOOD LUCK

Wow! Then they have dropped in price significantly. The two days tour w/ Princess was $339.00 pp vs. $280.00 for a comparable tour with Denrus.
