We're looking at several Mediterrean itineraries and would love to explore the coast of Italy which we've never seen (Riviera, Cinque Terre and/or Amalfi Coast). Is there a way to see Cinque Terre as a shore excursion from Livorno? Don't want to see Florence again. Thanks for your help.

How about Lucca or Sienna? They are both lovely, and not far from Livorno, or at least, closer than Florence.â€

Livorno is far from the Almalfi Coast. Does your ship port at Naples?
A fairly short trip from Livorno is Pisa. Have you been there? It is quite spectacular.

Pisa is basically the leaning tower. I found much more to see in Lucca and Sienna.
Is possible to make it to Cinque Terre, but Pisa and Lucca would be easier and closer.
I should have clarified. I know we can see the Amalfi Coast from the stop in Naples.
What I'm hoping to see from Livorno is Cinque Terre. Have already been to Pisa, Lucca, Siena. Can I do a day trip to Cinque Terre from Livorno?
I made it to Sienna and Lucca, and my daughter, who is an architect, and was with me, said that she liked Lucca and Sienna more than she liked Pisa, where I haven't been.
I made some research about getting to Cinque Terre from Livorno. Is feasible, but the trip will be a little more longer and difficult than going to Lucca or Sienna.
Since I changed computers, I don't have the data anymore, about this trip Livorno/Cinque Terre. Maybe you should look for a tour operator in Tuscany, and have him/her making the ground arrangements, or giving you advise on how to get there. If I recall well, I was told to make it by train, and then get boats or walk from one village to other, but this would take some time, so, I thought of going to Cinque Terre when I'm in Italy for a longer stay. I'm always concerned about missing the ship, thus I wouldn't do anything that could take longer than expected.
I am glad you brought that up Surlok. It is always the best to plan to get to the ship at least 2 hours before it leaves. This will give you some leeway if the car/bus breaks down or you get stuck in heavy traffic. This is a major problem when passengers book their own independent tours.
When you are on vacation you should not have to worry about missing the ship. This is why oftentimes the ship's tours are the best way to go if you are not familiar with the country.

I was puzzled with this this trip Livorno/Cinque Terre.
I went to Ferrovie delo Stato web site, and found out that there's a train departing from Livorno Centrale to La Spezia Centrale, departing at 9:49 AM ( there are other trains, but it would be too late). The train ride lasts 1 hour, thus, your desired shore excursion is perfectly doable. It's much closer than Florence, and there's a train in the afternoon, from Monterosso, to bring you back in Livorno on time.
