We are considering booking a suite on the Seabourn Legend in Janary through the Panama Canal. We would like to have any info from anyone who's cruised the Panama Canal or on Seabourn Legend. How formal are the dinners - are men required to wear a jacket every night? We are more casual, and don't really like that prospect. Also, how are the picture windows in the cabins? Can you see the canal passage well enough or do you need to go on deck? Thanks!

Hi Laker,
Seabourn is a very elegant cruise line and you will see men wearing sport jackets even in the Veranda Cafe but it is not the policy. Sport shirts and slacks are fine. As a matter of fact they have two types of casual policies. Casual and Resort Casual. Resort Casual means sport or polo shirts for men and Casual is sport jacket, no tie.
Informal nights ..... Jacket and tie.
Women are always dressed nicely.
If you do not wish to get dressed up Seabourn is the wrong cruise line. I would advise eating in the Veranda Cafe every night.
During your transit of the Panama Canal locks you should be on a balcony or up on deck. A window will not do at all. If you are booking a suite you should go to a "B" suite (well in advance).

Thanks for your comments, you really helped me decide. I think we'll look for another cruise! Thanks again!
