Safe Cruising

Jump to last reply

While reading through the Costa Concordia diaster, I came across this "related story".

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2086029/Cruise-ship-employee-Fabian-Palmer-faces-charges-having-sex-girl-14.html

I belief in general, people let their guards down way too much when they are on a cruise vacation, buying into the hype created by the marketing type that the ship will look after everything, and nothing can go wrong.

In reality, it is furthest away from the truth. The ship may look after you but you still have to practice all the safe precautions. After all, you are in a strange place with a lot of strangers, that you really don't know anything about.

Does the ship check for criminal records for crew? (Yes)
How about criminal records for passengers (I don't think so)
Can accident happens on biard? (Yes)
Can personal property gone missing? (Yes)
The list can go on, but at least, ask yourself the questions, and pratice the safety precautions.

In a way, the cruise industry is getting a relativelty unfair rap, after all, it is realtively safe. When you look at the number of incidents in relations to the number of people involved, it is the just like the fact that you have a better chance of getting kill in a car accident then in an airline disaster.

However, you can't throw caution to the wind just becasue you are on a cruise ship.
