Has anyone sailed on the galaxy? how are balconies? are they private? do the rooms that have balconies feel the vibration?

We are leaving on the 17th for the 10 night western carribean trip. If you want email when I get back and will let you know. I would also go to cruisecritic.com and pose this question. They have alot of information.

I did not know that the Galaxy had balconies. Do you know for sure?

Sailed Galaxy earlier this year. The balconies are mostly in the middle portion on the ship, with regular outside cabins on either side. We were at the very aft of the ship and could feel the vibration, but it is a known characteristic of this ship. I doubt the baclcony staterooms would feel it very much. As for privacy, be aware that the Sky Suites have balconies that are not covered and those walking on the deck above can look down onto the balcony.
Did you find it a continuous vibration Paul? I only felt it when in the port area for about 10 minutes and mainly in the dining rooms.

I believe we would hear about it on the forums if the vibration was continuous since below the dining rooms are categories 12 through 7. I was on the Mercury (sister ship) also and did not find the vibration bothersome. Try the cruisecritic site Cherie.

Paul

Yes, Paul, I think I should clarify. We could not feel the vibration at all while underway, it seemed only to be noticeable when the bow thrusters were being utilized or reverse thrust was engaged. Therefore, only when pulling into or out of port. It didn't bother us since it served as a morning wake-up call - that we were approaching the pier. We were near the top of the ship, aft, and it was very pronounced. However, this did not at all detract from the ship overall. We would be back on board in a heartbeat, if it weren't for that pesky requirement called 'money'.

The Sky Suite balconies are not private, but only because the deck above is a public area. However, the opnly time there is many people on this deck is when the ship is departing, the rest of the time I didn't find any people gawking down into the Shy Suite balconies. I've heard great things about the Sky Suites, I'm sure you will enjoy them. Just think, that lack of privacy means the sun comes onto the balcony unobstructed.

I have sailed on Mercury and Galaxy in the Sky Suites and although there is a "public" deck above them, there is a portion of the verandah that is covered and is indeed private. The deck above (Sunrise deck) is not used by many people. This area used to be a jogging track, but the noise to the Sky Suites was so intrusive, Celebrity now has this area a "No Running Allowed" area and the jogging track is located mid ship on the sky deck over looking the ocean pools. The sky deck is a great place to have a cabin. It is quiet and convenient. You will be glad you booked the sky deck. Enjoy having your butler. Hope this helps
