river cruise company

I would love a recommendation for the name of a river cruise company in Europe, either France or Scandanavia.
thanks

Peter Deilmann offers some nice river cruises in France. Uniworld is another bit company, though I don't know if they have cruises solely in France. There are others.

I'm not aware of any companies that do river cruises in Scandinavia, but Hurtigruten is the company that does the Norwegian coastal cruises. Other companies offer transportation (often overnight) among the Scandinavian countries, but these are large ferries with cabins, not really cruises.

A few more names for you are Viking,Amadeus,Vantage and Avalon.

DH and I did a river cruise last summer traveling from Budapest to Amsterdam on the Avalon "Tranquility" a brand new ship..We had a wondeful time. The best vacation we have ever had.Avalon ships are newer, beautiful and the cabins are large,172 sq ft.with french balconies with sliding glass doors.Tours are included in each city and wine was included with dinner. This is really the best way to travel and I wish they went everywhere!! Avalon has a brand new ship The Scenery which will be cruising in France this year.I have also not heard of any company that does Scandanavia rivercruises.

Doug is right that there are no rivers that are cruisable in Scandinavia, too many mountains. Hurtigruten offers an excellent want to explore the west coast of Norway, stopping in briefly at all the little villages tucked at the end of magnificent fjords.

UniWorld and Viking are your moderate budget best bets while Peter Deilmann is excellent for those seeking a 5star experience.

Tauck World Discovery is excellent, worth every penny! We've been on Amsterdam-Budapest and Bucharest-Budapest and were more than satisfied!

I have used both Vantage and Grand Circle. Take a look at their websites. Can't beat the prices.
