RC Majesty of the seas versus Caribbean Princess

Jump to last reply

Hi and thanks for opinions. You guys are always a big help.
We want a short anniversary cruise, and our choices are super limited because of tight dates of DD arriving at our house.

We will already be in Ft Lauderdale, so 4 days departing from there would be perfect, but the only 4 days we like at all departs from Miami, and the only one from Ft Lauderdale that we like is 5 days, putting us home the after DD arrives.

DH does not want to try Carnival at this time.

1. RC Majesty of the seas, 4 days, departing from Miami, going to Key West, Bahamas and Nassau. Cost for inside Cabin, $119.00.
It gets a wide range of mixed reviews.

Pros: fits our dates perfectly, Great rate
Cons: we will be in Ft Lauderdale and didn't want to depart from Miami. Hassle to get there and to return to Ft Lauderdale for flight.
Questions: It is a pretty old ship by today's standards, 23 years. Who of you have cruised on this old of a ship? Any safety concerns
It is small, the smallest I have been on. I don't need a lot, but do not want complete boredom. Anyone been on one of these smaller ships. How did it feel? Again, safety concerns.

Princess Caribbean Princess, Cozumel and Ochios Rios, two days at sea.
We were on this ship years ago and loved it at the time. Of course, it is older now, and getting wide range of reviews.
Pros: familiar with the ship, love the layout and the cruise line. Cost still within budget.
Departs from Ft Lauderdale
Cons: five days which gets us home after our DD arrives. Her other DD will be here to meet her, but it bothers me to not be here when she arrives.

We are tempted to go with Majesty, just for the timing, but we do want a nice time for our anniversary. If you guys say Majesty is fine and still in good shape, that would be reassuring. If Princess is really a lot better, I guess we will just be a day late to see DD.

I was willing to postpone the trip and take a longer cruise from SJ later, but DH really wants to be on a cruise on the day of our anniversary.
