Radisson Paul Gaugin

I'm booked on a mid-Jan 2003 Tahiti cruise. Does anyone have any thoughts about the excursions? Any must-sees? Anything to avoid? Any local guides who are better than what the cruise offers? Also, any general tips about the cruise? Thx!

You will LOVE it. Was one of the best cruises we had. No need to tip, and all the excursions were good. However, Tahiti is an easy place to make one's own arrangements re trips, looking around, etc.

Kate, may I make a suggestion? Go to the "Cruise Critic Message Board"....then click on to Radisson. A wealth of information! We just returned from Radisson's Diamond! It was 6*! We will certainly return! I understand The PG is even better! Have fun!

Kate,
I put together a 4-5 page shore information document after our Ren Tahiti cruise. It's a couple of years old but may still be helpful. If you'd like I can email it to you. We used mostly local guides and it's easy to arrange.

dear Patty,
Can you please email me information document about your Renaissance Tahitian cruise. We are planning a cruise on the Tahitian Princess this year. Now that are children are in college we can travel anytime. Is there a best month to visit or a time to avoid Tahiti(rain season, or to hot/muggy) Should we choose the itineary that goes to Cook Islands,Marquesa or Samoa?

Thanks for your help. Happy New Year to All
Shelly
[email protected]

Hi Shelly,
I'll email you tonight. As for the weather, the months with the least amount of rain/humidity would be their winter months of May through October. We went in April and had pretty good luck with the weather, only 2 days of rain. The summer months, December through March are generally wetter and hotter. Since the Ren cruise stayed in the society islands (Tahiti, Moorea, Raiatea, Huahine, Bora Bora), I'm not too familiar with the other ports that Princess has added. I know that Rarotonga and Samoa are more developed than the Marquesas so that might help you choose.
