Questions On My Disney Cruise

Cruising on Disney Wonder.

Info about food. I know there is a pizza place, hot dogs, burgers etc.....Is the food here free? What about between actual meals or in the evening? Also the ice cream place, is it free?

The Drink mugs....I know $20 for unlimited refills, this will work for one child but the other child doesn't do soda, do they have Hi-C or anything like that?

The beverage station....Milk, water, tea, coffee...available 24 hours I know. Is the water OK and drinkable or do you have to spring for bottled water?

Also, is Palo really worth it? We really don't want to dress up too much either. Would Capris and a blouse work for me? How about slacks and a button down for my husband. Dressy enough for Palo? How about dressy enough for the other nights restaurants? We are not dress up people and hate the whole idea of "changing for dinner".

Also, how crowded is the ship if you stay on while in port? Can you go to say, the casinos, and leave your children in the children's program? Would the beeper work from that far away?

Thanks for answers to these questions and any and all info you may wish to share regarding your own Disney Cruise experience. We are 2 adults and 2 kids ages 6 & 9.

Thanks!

I will answer a few questions. I was on both disney ships when they were new and the price for Palo was $5 per person. Gents must wear jacket and tie and gals wear dresses or pantsuits.

All food on board is complimentary.

Beepers do not work off the ship.

Water on-board is drinkable but not out of the toilet.

You will have the ship to yourself during port days.

You will have to dress up on fromal nights. Tux or dark suit for men (some wear just dark sport jacket and tie). Women wear cocktail dresses or gowns. You can eat in the buffet and wear what you like but you will miss out on looking good in the formal portraits that are taken in many areas around the ship. No charge unless you buy the photo.

Casual nights mean slacks and dress or polo shirt for men. Women wear business attire.

Do not miss the production show "Disney Dreams" and stay until the end for suprise. Only show I know of that ever received a standing ovation on a ship.

You will have a great time.

Paul

Paul as usual is right on the mark. One other note, last I heard Disney's Ships do not have Casinos. Happy Travels, CB

Paul thanks for responding

But now I have an additional question. Are there formal nights on the 4 day cruise? I wasn't aware of that if so.

Also, are they actually going to not allow us in Palo if my husband arrives in slacks and a button down shirt instead of jacket and tie?

Now, can anyone else help me with the drinks for the refillable mugs? Is there a drink option besides soda such as Hi-C or something? Thanks

Has anyone ever left their children in the kids program and then left the ship to gamble or sightsee? I don't think I would feel comfortable with that since Paul says the beepers don't work off of the ship.

Thanks all!

There are no casinos on the ship but there are plenty in Nassau.

I would never leave a 6 year old on a ship (children's program or not).

There is one formal night on a 4 night cruise.

I am almost positive the maitre d' will tell you when you make reservatons at Palo that there is a strict dress code.

I would take the children to the Lost City of Atlantis and the Digs at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau. It is worth every penny spent. Take the Shuttle buses from the pier. Also the beaches are free.

Paul

What determins the clothes is not the night, but the restaurant you are supposed to have diner. Each night is in a different restaurant and yr table companions and waiter move with you. One of the restaurants requires more dressy clothes, but nothing compared to other cruise lines. Jacket and tie are required for men, but most of them weren´t using one and capris with a blouse will work fine.
Children are not allowed in the Palo. My husband loved the food of the other restaurants (one cajun, one italian, one international). Besides, pizza, ice creams, hot dogs, burgers are available from like 9 AM to 9 PM and are included in the price and so are sodas at meals.

I beg to differ on the Palo question. We did the Magic 2/23-3/2 and ate at Palo twice (two couples each made a res. for four) and it is definitely worth the $5/pp and no kids. Neither time did I wear a tie or jacket. Nice slacks and my nicely pressed Hawaiian shirt. There were some in dark suits with ties, but also some dressed as I so it wasn't out of place. Ladies also dressed down a little and weren't out of place. One pointer for you: the reservations fill up FAST, so go as soon as you get on the ship and dump your carry-ons in your cabin. We went and ate lunch first and they had filled several of the dinner seatings by the time we got there. They have something like 6 seating times on the half hour per night starting at 6.

While on the subject of dress, you will see some in tuxes (some even had them for their 4-yr old kids) with ladies in their little black dresses while others will be in dark suits while others will be in resort wear. Only one night out of two "formal" nights did I wear a suit (the second we were at Palo) and didn't feel at all under dressed. Don't know how many formal nights there will be if you go for less than 7 days.

Hi-C is available on the buffet lines up top. The water is fine. You can eat all the pizza, grill foods, ice cream, fresh fruit (together with the ice cream) and room service food you want for free.

We loved the Disney cruise and hope you have as much fun as we did.

You made me curious. I looked into my file and I see that now there are no formal nights. I am almost positive that when the cruise line was new there was a formal night on the 4 night cruise and the 7 night cruise. I definitely remember Mickey and Minnie in their formal attire.

This is what Disney now recommends for it's resaurants: A jacket for men and a dress or pantsuit for ladies in the evening at Lumiere's/Triton's and Palo.

Paul
Now I remember why I wore my tux. The Captain's Cocktail Party is formal and everyone stays dressed throughout the evening.

I imagine you can wear what you want, but I believe proper attire is what is requested and it is what you should wear, or eat in the buffet.

Paul
