QUEEN VICTORIA: Maiden World Voyage!

My fiance & I were originally considering Cunard's QE2 or Holland America's MS Amsterdam for a world cruise. After talking to a travel agent we are now more strongly considering Cunard's brand-new ship the Queen Victoria on it's maiden world voyage. Does anyone know anything about this ship?? HELP PLEASE!!

I was scheduled for a Maiden Voyage on a Princess ship several years ago and the cruise was delayed, rescheduled, then delayed again. Delays with Maiden Voyages are not uncommon since sometimes they're not completed on time (kind of like building a new home) and there are bugs to be worked out. I have talked to others who have been on Maiden Voyages and were a bit disappointed since it's kind of all still trial and error and things don't work like clockwork as they do once the staff and routines are more established. The good side about a maiden voyage though is they're usually inexpensive since the cruisline is expecting glitches here and there and trying to promote the new ship.

Maybe others have had better luck than I had, I was out $$ for airline tickets plus vacation time I had planned around.

That's very interesting! Thanks for the tip. Because it is a Maiden Voyage we are getting a few "extras" that are not offered on other cruise ships, which is nice. Hopefully everything will go according to schedule!

We are on the QV Maiden World Cruise too. We are going New York to New York (returning on the QM2). Looking forward to it!

Are any of the rest of you on this cruise? I am looking for ideas on private shore excursions. There is a possibility of sharing a guide if it works for you.

Do you know the website www.cruisecritic.com?

You'll have an excellent chance of finding other pax there.

Meanwhile, you've whetted my curiosity and I'm off to learn what I can about this voyage.
