QM2 REVIEW
Just got off the QM2 after a 10 night cruise to the Caribbean. This was my first time on this ship.
The things I loved about the QM2 were:
1) Cabin closet space.
2)Balcony with Plexiglas bottom so that the ocean could be seen even when in bed.
3) High quality bathroom products
4)Terry Cloth bathrobe and slippers
5) Daytime Lectures, Classes and Classical Concerts (too many to attend all)
6) Low-key, but interesting Entertainment Director
7) Beautiful décor
8) Good Food in Dining Room
9) Many bars and lounges with entertainment
10) Fast room service
11) Extremely friendly fellow passengers
The things I didn’t like:
1) Very bad Server in dining room
2) Buffet restaurant sub par with poor food and awkward set-up.
3) Limited room service menu, even for breakfast
4) Too many formal and semi-formal evenings
5) Evening entertainment

Cruise lines SCAMS / Last minute itierary changes
We were on the Ruby Priness in the Caribbean in December and saw the Queen Mary in port one night from our balcony. All that money and the food was bad? How was the food in the dining room? I am surprised about the limited room service menu as well, but in my experience all the cruise ships are cutting back to cold food only (+ coffee) for breakfast.
aliska, note things I liked #8. The food in the dining room was very good.
BTW, it wasn't that expensive.

Thanks for reporting back. I've been hoping you'd let us know how things went as we will be sailing on the QM2 this coming fall. I am eager to hear about the so-called dress code for formal and semi-formal nights. I'm not looking forward to all that serious dressing up, but will conform to the norm. How did you fare in that department and what are your views as to how other passengers dressed?
I think I can handle the things you didn't like, but thanks for the heads-up.
On formal nights the passengers definitely followed the dress code. I wore dress slacks with fancy tops, evening sandals. Semi-formal you saw more confusion....but still pretty dressy.
My tablemates seemed to really enjoy the formal nights.
I also want to emphasize that my fellow passengers were the friendliest and most interesting people.

Similar experience with entertainment/buffet food.
Way too formal for me too got old after the first week
along with the shows....
Susie - I am thinking of a cruise - possibly the QE II - but would be traveling alone - and do not want to pay supplement. Any suggestions?
wildbird, I really don't know how to get away from paying the single supplement. For many years I hesitated to try cruising because of that. You might contact Vacations to Go.
