Only Good Things About The Norway Please
I just booked my 50th birthday cruise aboard the Norway. We've sailed on her before but a long time ago. We had a wonderful time. This time, we booked a penthouse suite. I would only like to hear good things that anyone has to say about her please and thank you. Especially which dining room is the best? do they have freestyle dining? how is the spa? Only good things please!!!!!!

The Norway is a lovwely ship, recalling the days of the grand ocean liner.

The Windward is the former First Class Dining Room, and is MUCH more attractive than the Leeward. Ask for a table away from the dome; it'll be quieter.

TIP: There are very few tables for two in Windward. If that's what's important to you; book the Leeward Dng Rm and "visit" the Windward at breakfast.

The Club Internationale and the Windward Dining Room are two of the most beautiful rooms ever put to sea!

Michael
NYC

Hi:

I recently spent 16 days on the final crossing of the Norway. She is what MTB says she is, a grand lady of the sea, a true ocean liner. She has lots of kitch, and some grand spaces. If you have sailed her before, you know what to expect, as I believe she has really changed little over the years. The Winward is the former first class dining room and has a nice clubby atmosphere, but it is noisy. The food, however, is exactly the same in both rooms. I like the older cabins, on say Viking deck, but have also travelled in a penthouse, very nice, and much more modern, tho they lack that old charm.

The refit was, apparently cosmetic only. What I've read is that it was mostly new carpeting, astroturf up top and some paint here and there. They reupholsetered "A Club called Dazzles" and it needed it!! But the comment I heard was that it was actually more tacky-- a feat that seemed impossible.

She's a great ship, and on the Atlantic she was smooooth! Doesn't move much, but then we didn't have any really rough seas.

Happy Sailing
and Happy B'day!

Bill M

thanks so much all of you. We stayed in an older cabin on 1988 (before renovations) and it was fine but this time we wanted to sail in grand style. I just wish they would post a pic of their penthouse room. It should be nice, and it wasn't that cheap, as John so elequently put it. I hope to hear more.

My husband and I took our first cruise and our honeymoon on the Norway and we still talk about it! It was wonderful and we met some great people. The staff was exceptional and it is by far the most beautiful ship! We are sailing with Norwegian this weekend and I am anxious to try their other ships!

Hi, we just returned from a 7-day cruise on the Norway. It was nothing but wonderful! The ship is a classic, the dining (in the Leeward dining room) was unparalleled and service was superb. My friend had a seaweed wrap and massage and pronounced it "perfect". Not only is the Norway priced for value, but the experience of sailing on a vintage oceanliner is unmatched in today's plastic/fiberglass cruise world. We look forward very much to our next Norway cruise! (Lucky you, with a Penthouse suite! Enjoy!)

Just back from a week on the Norway. Loved the ship. Food in the dining rooms was great. No so good in the outdoor buffet. The ship is so elegant, especially the Club International. Standard Time was a good group to listen to and also dance. Shows were good and so was the lectures on the Norway history. Don't miss the Liar's Club show.

I know that you originally wanted nice things to hear about the Norway and there were some nice aspects, but 1 main problem that we encountered on board...the smell. The combination of smoke, fried foods, chlorine, and sweat made the North Cape Lounge and Viking deck reek! We had to cover our noses everytime we passed by those areas. The food was good, but I thought I was going to lose it when I got near the North Cape Lounge.

Jody,

Somebody mentioned the Cruise Critic site for more invformation. Somebody recently cruised on the Norway and had a suite (Owners?). They took lots of pics & posted a link to them on CC. You may have to search the NCL discussion to find them, but they should be very helpful.

Have a nice cruise! I love the Norway.
