Oct. cruising near Capri
Docked in Capri-Sorrento for 2 days
Will mid Oct. weather be generally be good?
Will shops, activities be open in Oct?
We usually go to France in mid Sept. and travel on our own but thought this might be a chance to get a taste of a few different areas. Since it's getting late and we haven't planned anything we are looking for easy alternatives.
I have looked at cruise critic a bit. We've taken 4 small sailboat cruises but this is a ship with 600 people and we're just not sure if we would like it--Azamara.
Any comments to help us decide?????

We've done 2 Med cruises in Oct and didn't find things closed. We were on Oceania, which has very similar ships to Azamara, as they both bought the old Renaissance ships.
The weather was comfortable for us, wearing long pants, long sleeve shirts, light jackets.

abram---Thanks,kind of what I thought but needed some hands on experience.
BTW, didn't you just go to Ireland? We liked Ireland so much in Sept.'11 that we returned in May '12 and are thinking of heading there again in the future. Flying from Chicago to Europe is just not easy and we refuse to change on the East coast--got stuck there too many times.

Yes, we got home last night from 5 weeks in Ireland; we flew non-stop between O'Hare and Dublin. It was a wonderful trip; there are so many places in the world we want to see that we knew we'd only get to Ireland once, so better stay a while. So glad we did that.

We were in Naples last Oct. and the weather was fine and everything was open, no issues. Azamara gets great reviews on CC so it should be fine. It's considered a high end line though not in the stratosphere of the luxury lines. However for ships of its size the latest CC poll has it ranked #1, besting the luxury lines.

We were there 2 years ago in mid October. The weather was cool. high 60s to mid 70s. We wore light jacket. We were at Rome the third week of October and people were wearing winter jackets. temperature was mid 60s.
Will shops, activities be open in Oct?
Of course they will be open and there are opportunities for big end of season sale. DW bought a real Valentino purse for almost two third off the list price.
You will enjoy the service on board the Azamara.

Larry, life's been busy. Workload is heavy and tons of meetings (meaning business travel )
But we still managed to squeeze out a cruise to Alaska in June. I think you had commented on that TR: "Alaska Shore excursion on the cheap".
My young son got married this summer, if you recall, him and his girlfriend (now my DIL) took a cruise with us last November; and post-cruise, we stayed at the new Disney Art of Animation resort. We had the little mermaid's room. The bathroom was decorated as Ariel's cave and it was actually kind of creepy that you are taking a shower in Ariel's cave with her starring at you.
