Looking for help on developing a round trip, no flying cruise schedule to and from Rome, Italy in April 2009 time frame. Want to cruise from USA to Rome, stop over two or three days and then return via cruise to USA. Repositioning crusie can get us there but haven't found way back in April-May time frame. Is this unheard of in todays travel world?
Thanks for consideration and help.WLBJohn

Most likely you won't find it as repo cruises are done in spring to Europe and in fall to US. Look at Queen Mary II for your way back from Hamburg to NY, if she still does those short Transatlantic cruises next spring; it's only a short flight, or a drive from Rome to Hamburg.
In spring most ships go from the USA to the Med. In Fall most of them sail back.
Most unlikely you can do a returntrip within a few days.
Holland America's Grand Med. Voyage will be the best no-fly european trip.
It's about 50 days and begins in March 2009.
We did the 2007 Voyage and loved it so much. We are now going on the Asia/Australia Grand Voyage for 65 days starting 9/19/08 from Seattle and ending 11/23/08 in San Diego.
We like the itinerary of the Princess 2010 Round the World -starts in Ft. Lauderdale but ends in Rome. We would need to get back for that trip, too. I won't book it until they can tell me how to get back without flying.
