To the first one - what is the newest carnival cruise ship 2013 - the refitted Destiny under the name Carnival Sunshine. Well, the second one is a little bit tricky! Carnival Corporation has ordered 2 ships to be build - but only one of them will be a Carnival ship (of the CCL fleet) - the other vessel will be build for the HAL brand. Now the more interesting part - about the name of the future fun ship 2016. There's no much of an info around the Internet, but so far I found the following - Carnival Corp has reserved as trademarks the names "Carnival Splash" and "Carnival Sunrise", and my bet is Sunrise is the name of the 2016 game!
The Carnival Sunrise ship name suggestion I read in this article about the carnival cruise lines ships names/classes/sizes etc http://www.shipcruise.org/carnival-cruise/568-carnival-cruise-line-ships where the newest carnival ship on order is at the top of a table - and as ship details/statistics are shown only weight 139000 and capacity 4000 passengers. At the shipcruise site there's another article about the Carnival's newest and biggest ships and there I found 2 serial numbers for trademarks - and if you combine these numbers with the names you'll find this place http://trademarks.justia.com/owners/carnival-corporation-188436/page6 where all reserved by Carnival Corp names are shown. And Splash and Sunrise are almost at the end of the list (followed only by Sunshine). Strangely enough, this is not a so popular forum topic (yet), but I find it most interesting because this ship will be the CCL's largest - a new class Carnival ship, most probably with absolutely the best ever products and features of the fun line! I promise to inform you guys if I find something new about all this stuff.
BTW, what are your suggestions - Splash or Sunrise will be the name of the newest new ship? I personally like Sunrise much much better.

Don't know about Splash or Sunrise, but this one -
http://www.smh.com.au/travel/travel-incidents/massive-cruise-ship-adrift-with-4200-on-board-after-fire-20130212-2e9os.html
might have to be renamed Slop - or Plop - or worse.
