Peggy's Cove is a must! I did not travel on NCL, but did book an excursion thru our ship. Since there are 4 of you, you could consider renting a car and traveling out to Peggy's Cove. By the way, sometimes you can search YouTube for destinations and get a 'feel' of what you will see. We also stopped at the Citadel and enjoyed that.

Any information on excursions in Quebec city, Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island) and Sydney (Nova Scotia) will be appreciated.

If you live near the ocean..FORGET PEGGYS COVE...because if it's foggy you wont see a darn thing. . What we did the first time.. hired a taxi and he took us on a tour.. and we were shocked when he mentioned the graves of the Titantic victims..but it is a beautiful, beautiful site..very moving.. and then the Citadel where we got there in time for the cannon to be shot off at noon. You can also take a "duck tour"..not as good as the Boston Duck Tour.. and at the port in Halifax is a maritime museum. Halifax is a beautiful city, a college town, hilly and very colorful.. make sure you see the gardens and all the pubs.. The meandering walkway from the terminal is fun.. musicians, artists, etc. Boston..now your talking..you can walk Boston.. even though we are Bostonians we were surprised at the fun the Boston Duck Tour is...we learned things we had never heard before.. Then there is the F reedom Trail.. that goes allthe way from if you want the Quincy Market into the North End with the most fabulous italian food and pastry..

You actually have two good choices in Sydney. You cab go to the home of Alexander Graham Bell and tour the very interesting displays of his work and life. On the way, you will see some great landscapes and there is an interesting town very near the site. Alternatively, you can take a tour to Louisberg, which is the site of an old French fort. It now contains live displays of what life was like back when the fort was active. Either trip is worthwhile. I suspect you can do either by using the ship's tour or a private tour. We used what the ship offered, and the guides were excellent.
Also, in Halifax, there is an immigration museum right next to where the ships dock. Halifax was the Ellis Island of Canada, and this museum was fascinating with its detail of people immigrating to Canada.
Finally, in Quebec, if you only have one day, you might just want to tour the city by foot and horse carriage. There is a tremendous amount to see there. If you want to venture outside the city, there is a good tour of a waterfall and beautiful Catholic church that we took. The names of these places escape me now.
