Need to know whether worth it to bring our own Wine onboard and pay corkage fee or not?

Can anyone advise whether we should bother bringing our own red wine onboard the Princess ship to Alaska? My husband is a very selective wine drinker and wants to bring his own wine if the prices are going to be high and the selection poor on the ship. Is it worth it to pay the corkage fee, and how is the wine selection on the Dawn Princess? Are we even allowed to bring wine onboard?

sounds like you might be pretty picky when it comes to wine. Viist the cruiseline's website and see the wine selection.

Maybe you should see if Yoda is on your ship. You might want to sit at his table. He has posted some in the past about the wine that he brings.

JJ-you have to buy the wine somewhere, right? Is the difference between what you would pay elsewhere and what you would pay aboard ship really worth it, counting a corkage fee for every bottle, plus the extra hassle of toting wine around, just waiting to be broken?
If you look at the overall cost of an Alaska cruise on Princess, a few dollars for wine surely cannot make that much difference.

Yes, you can bring wine on board. We brought our own wine to dinner every evening on the Sea Princess and our waiter never charged us a corkage fee. If your husband is picky it might be worthwhile to bring it even with the corkage fee (I think it's $10). I still have a copy of the wine list around somewhere so if you're looking for something specific, I can try to look it up.
