I only see cruises going from Rio to Val..not the other way around. Does anyone know why?
We'd like to take Oceania, but they have nothing like this.
Need a cruise from Valpairiso to Rio or Buenos Aires

Virtually all cruises go clockwise around South America. I don't know of an itinerary that goes the other way, though it's certainly possible.
Seabourn has one in early January 2012 as well as Princess. check cruise.com the itineraries are listed there.

Lots do this notably HAL and Seaborn list with discounts
above AWESOME deals on Seaborn right now $20K cruise from $3k

good experience in the past with HAL but not as upscale
very nice though...
I thought both Princess and Crystal do a one way "counter-clockwise".
We were on the Star Princess last May and they were selling cruises for 14 days from Valpairiso to Rio (for departure in Jan and Feb 2012.) So you may want to check them out. They are mass market big ships so it is nothing like Oceania.
Crystal is advertining for Feb 2012 deaprture from Lima to Buenos Aire (24 days). The link is here. http://www.crystalcruises.com/VoyageDetail.aspx?CID=3303&RK=sa
Oceania offers a one way 19 days from Valpairiso to Rio, departing Feb 7, 2012.
We are travelling to Peru this October and is investigating South American cruises for our next winter travel season (Oct 2012 - Feb 2013). Whatever you decide, please post a trip report after your journey!
