Miami bayside marketplace hotel

Would like to stay pre-cruise in Miami across from the Bayside Marketplace? Does anyone know if the Hyatt is within a block or so?

I stayed at Miami Intercontiental hotel a couple of weeks ago for $109 though I hear that it can go for much higher. My rate included breakfast also.

Hotel is excellent, 4 stars, within a 5 minute walk to Bayside (closest hotel), and a great view of the ships. Excellent rooms and service.

Hope that rate is available when you are cruising. I loved this hotel.

http://hotels.miami.interconti.com/

Hi Nancy,

The Best Western Marina Park is right across the street from Bayside.

I would not advise walking from any other hotel at night. Therefore the Best Western would be your choice. There is a ton of security at the Marketplace.

Paul

I have also stayed at the Miami Inter-Continental. Very highly recommend it.

It is very safe walking from this hotel. You walk through a park like area and at night there is police patrolling this area.

This is the closest hotel to Bayside and is a 4 star hotel. Leaps and bounds over "Best Western".

I hate to be a spoil-sport but walking six blocks through Bay Front Park at night would not be my cup-of-tea.

Granted, you are correct .... the Intercontinental is not a Best Western by any means but I would advise taking a taxi to the Marketplace. But what the heck, if you are going to pay double the price for a room at the Intercontinental you can well afford a taxi.

I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency and Sheraton (all further away from the Marketplace). I have stayed at the Inercontinental but I also stayed at the Best Western twice and found it comfortable. And a walk across the street to the Marketplace is ideal. Also the food prices will not break your pocketbook.

I did not stay at the Everglades which is a half-block away from the Best Western. Some of my clients said it was OK but I walked into the hotel and found it not too pleasing.

Paul

Paul,

It is a 5 minute walk - not 6 blocks.

Get your facts straight.

Sara

Have stayed at both Inter-Continental and Best Western. No question - Inter-continental is a much nicer hotel and the cost between the two was a difference of $10. There is no comparison between the two hotels.

Also, the Inte-continental was CLOSER and a SAFER walk. It sounds like you have not stayed here before or know what you are talking about.

I consider the hotel part of my vacation, not just a place to sleep the night before. It was worth the $10 extra dollars.

My understanding is that the Best Western is right across the street. Perhaps not the nicest hotel, but the closest. Anyone who has stayed here, please let us know how close. I'm booked at BW the end of January.

I have stayed at both and Intercontinental is a little closer. You don't have to cross a street - just take a little path that is along the water. Very pretty.

The Best Western is probably cheaper but is not as nice.

Have also stayed at Best Western and Inter-Continental. Never stayed at Hyatt but it is very popular down there.

There is no comparison between the two. The Best Western, at best is a 2 star hotel. It is clean and is OK hotel for a one night stay. I would never stay here for more than a night.

The Inter-Continental is a 4 star hotel that is abosultely gorgeous, with excellent service. The views are great from this hotel (25 floors).

When we compare the two - if Inter-Continental is within $20, we stay there.

Just spoke with wife and wife thinks Best Western is a little closer but she doesn't like the hotel.

According to Mapquest, and these are for driving directions only (a walk might be shorter), Best Western is .29 miles from Bayside, Hyatt is .38 miles from Bayside and Intercontinental is .76 miles. I was looking to stay at the closest, which looks like BW, which I got for $85 for the night. I had also checked into Intercontinental but $85 was my best rate. I'm also looking for a short, safe walk to Bayside and was assured BW was fine.

All I can say is that somebody must have moved the Intercontinental Hotel closer to Bayside Marina than the Best Western since the last time I was down there a couple of months ago. In the interim I will go with what Jesse states.

Paul

Driving instructions is misleading because you can not drive through the park between Inter-Continental and Bayside.

For some people - cheaper is not always better. At least for me it is not.

I am to the point in my life where I want to stay somewhere better then a "Best Western". At least, so far I have not been to a Best Western that I am pleased with.

Thank you for providing the information about the Hyatt and Inter-Continental.

Karen and JasonH:

You are much better than I. I guess I am not at that point yet where I need better than a BW, just clean and convenient.

When I go on vacation - the last place I want to stay is a Best Western. I consider a hotel as part of my vacation and I want a Hyatt or Marriott.

I am not a snob but I also prefer to stay at hotels other then Best Western. I like to start my vacation off with Hyatt, Renaissance, Embassy Suites, Marriott, etc. . I would not consider Best Western.

I agree, I agree, I agree .... Best Western hotels can not hold a candle to Sheratons, Hyatts or Intercontinentals. The Best Western Marina Park is a budget two star hotel. It is comfortable and clean. I am just attempting to state that it is dangerous to walk in Miami at night therefore it is best to take a taxi to Bayside. I will also repeat again ...... if you stay at the Best Western you open the front door, walk across the sidewalk, walk across the street and you are at the entrance to the Bayside Marina. You can not get any closer than that.
Therefore, unless you get hit by a car, this is the safest walk to Bayside. This should answer Tom's question.

Paul

Thanks Paul. This time we're more concerned with the safety of the walk to Bayside & the price.
