mexican cruise
I am planning a trip to Mexico this spring ( pacific side). Don`t know whether to do the Legend of the Seas or the Star Princess. Would like a nice ship with good food and entertainment and enough to do. Recently went on a Celebrity cruise, and while we enjoyed it, there wasn`t enough to do and most of the passengers were ancient. I like a mix of ages. Which one sounds more like what I want? Thank you so much!

Legend is four generations of RCCL back and is about 10 years old. The Star Princess is current Princess generation and is essentially brand new. Even if the Star was 20% more expensive than the Legend, I'd take her. The itineraries for seven day Mexican Riviera's are pretty much the same - Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.

Another thing to consider with Mex Riv cruises - the weather out of L.A. or San Diego in early spring can be too cool to be on deck, particularly with the Pacific Ocean breezes. We went in early November and couldn't be on deck for the first day and a half and the last day. Very much UNLIKE the Caribbean.

Thanks. We have decided on the Star Princess, toward the end of Feb. Since we live in the west, it will be a joy to not have to fly so far. Peter, you said early spring might be a little too cool, but then you mentioned going in Nov. Have you been in early spring?

No, I haven't been on that cruise in the early spring, but I have been in L.A. in early spring and the weather can be just as iffy as in November. When we left L.A. in November for the cruise, the highs were in the upper fifties. When I've been in L.A. in late March and early April, I've seen highs in that same range and would assume the temps down the coast coupled with the cool ocean breezes would give you the same result for sun tanning as we had in Nov. Just a word of caution.
