"Kids" are 17 and 21, cruise line help?!

Husband and I are thinking of a cruise for next Christmas break with the family. The only cruise we have done before was the Disney, we are DVC members, and kids at that time loved it. I am afraid now that my son, 17, will not have enough kids (I'm sure he's thinking girls!) his age, or things to do on a Disney cruise. My daughter, 21, loves just to sun and read, etc. Any ideas? or should we stick with Disney? Thanks for your help.

I think Disney is still a good choice for you. However, Christmas break will be a difficult time for that cruise line..with only two ships their prices and availability can be a big problem. But, Disney's common grounds club for teens is one of the best I have seen on any ship. The adults only areas including the clubs, pools, beach, etc really give adults and adult children some peace and quiet too. For a backup, I would recommend a voyager class ship with RCCL. They have a ton of activities for your 17 yr. old. Lastly, no matter what ship you choose you will see kids of all ages during Christmas break.

One of RCI's Voyager class ships will be perfect for you guys. Lots of that age group aboard and more activities than they could possibly want. And a great teen club as well.

I'd check Carnival as well.

Thanks for the replies. As for Carnival, what about the Legend? On Cruise Critic, it gets the same star rating as the Disney. I had always thought, not to offend anyone, that this was a lower end cruise line and wasn't up to par with a lot of others. The ones I am looking at, tho, get great marks and are decent in price. Any suggestions? Thanks again!

Many strong feelings about Carnival both ways. They are the fun ships and whether or not its party, party, party or not; why take a chance. They certainly aren't any better than RCCL or Princess - so why take a chance.

I would echo the voyager class RCCL ships. Greatest ships for teens. I have two and that's their favorite out of 11 cruises.

We went on a NCL cruise last summer with son (18) and daughter (14). Son had a good time, but the 17-20 age is rather awkward on cruises, as they are too old for "teen" activities and too young for adult activities - something to keep in mind no matter which cruise line you take. It depends a lot on how outgoing your kid is. I might start off thinking about this from a different vantage - where do you want to go, and work back from there. We ended up on NCL because we wanted to go to Bermuda.

You can't beat the Voyager of the Seas (Royal Caribbean). We sailed to Canada with them and the kids had a ball - non stop for them.
