We have booked a southbound Seward to Vancouver cruise on Radisson for this summer - our first Alaska cruise. Considering adding their Kenai Peninsula land tour. Includes motorcoach along Seward Highway from Anchorage to Kenai, two nights at Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge,with a free day where we would take the 6 hour <BR>Kenai Fjords cruise. All breakfasts and two dinners included. Has anyone taken this land tour, or a similar one, and can offer comments?

<BR>Hi Susan,<BR><BR>The bus trip is scenic but a better alternative is to rent a car. You make many stops along the way to take pictures, have a sandwich or an ice cream cone. Visit the Portage Glacier and walk on some surrounding glaciers. Also pan for gold at an old gold mine. The car is expensive but well worth the money.<BR><BR>Paul

Thanks. Anyone out there been to Kenai<BR>Peninsula and taken a Kenai Fjords cruise? Or stayed at Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge? Appreciate any info.

The Kenai Fiord cruise was a life time memory. I understand there aren't any rent cars in Seward and Anchorage would be out of your way. <BR><BR>The Princess Lodge is above the Kenai River. It's a great place to raft and fish for salmon if you are there in the summer.

The Kenai Fiords small boat trip is more than a trip of a lifetime. You will see more sea-life and land birds and animals you will want to see. Also close-up to the calving glaciers. Magnificent ice-fields and glaciers. Kenai/Seward is the "real" Alaska.<BR><BR>If you will loook at my first post you will see the difference between the bus/car trip from Anchorage to Seward. Better to stay in Seward than Kenai Princess - much more to do and see. More than likely less money also. Stay at the Best Western or the Edgewater (newer - better) on Resurrection Bay downtown. Across from the wonderful Sealife Center.<BR><BR>Paul

We really enjoyed our stay in Seward. It is a small town with a great view of Resurrection Bay with mountains across the bay as almost as pretty as the Tetons. Watching the fishing boats, day cruises and large cruises coming in and out of the bay was a lot of fun for us.

Yes, and other than the huge Alaska SeaLife Center there is the Chugach Heritage Center the sled dog kennels and rides where you can pet the puppies. You can also take a short hike right up to the Exit Glacier. There is also snow-machine tours and Sea-kayaking into many pristine bays. You may also do fishing charters for salmon and halibut.<BR><BR>We have been there twice and plan to go again.

Susan:<BR>Paul is so right about the Kenai Fjords cruise. It is not to be missed. We were there in mid-May - saw pods of Orca whales, humpback whales, a huge rock plastered with sea lions, a mountainside of birds, harbor seals,and even a full grown black bear sitting up on the mountainside.
