BTW Sassafrass and I met him last yr. on the Connie. We had dinner together on with him and our spouses at the Tuscan Grille. It was a fun night as the 5 of us hit it off like old friends. I am so sad to hear this news. Among other accomplishments he designed the opening ceremony for the Sydney Olympics. Nigel I will never forget you.

Much much too young to leave this world.
I followed many of his postings here.
Sympathies to the family.
He looks like such a jovial guy
Oh my Goodness !!
I sure do remember dogster. He said he was an Old Lady from Prescott Arizona !!!
I wonder what he died from , ( Heart Attack, Cancer !?)
I sure will miss his posting here on Fodors.
Yes much too young.
If you go to the Asia forum and read the thread there a poster mentioned how he had spoken (I think) to him and said he was Ill and that he would not last too long. I too thought of cancer. I just hope he wasn't in pain. It's a very sad day.
Jacket, Thanks for posting. I wondered why he had not responded lately. I am crying. Though he pretended to such crustiness, I found him totally charming - made me want to do something kind or sweet for him, and I hoped to see him again sometime. I am glad he got to travel for awhile.
My sentiments as well Sue. Its pretty rough really. Even though we only met that one time I feel like a lost a friend.
That and the fun we had at the Tuscan Grille is what I'll remember about him.
Well you do recall how he had that sort of frame that would never add weight. Wish I had that. Well anyway that night at the martini bar he ordered a coke and the bartender asked if he wanted reg. or diet. So Nigel says in that wry way with a bit of an eye roll that made him so cool if he looked liked he needed to be on a diet.
It is sad to hear that Nigel Triffit, aka Dogster, has left us. He has extraordianry talent and will be sorely missed here and elsewhere.
His handle Dogster, probably origanted from the 1995 show Tap Dogs (he was the director and set designer) and from there, the name dogster stucked.
Ley's hope his blog page stayed alive a lot longer so more can visit and appreciate his humor.
Sorry to hear the sad news, never met him but always enjoyed his postings and dry wit. RIP

Thank you. I still think about him, especially now, when on the road.
Just found this in my "Bookmarks" list. If you haven't read it before it will keep you laughing for
days. I was really looking forward to more of the same.
