July or August for best weather on Alaskan cruise?

It seems like July/August are the best times for good weather for an Alaskan cruise. Is the weather generally better July versus August or vice versa? I am considering the following sailing dates on Celebrity and want to pick the one that has the best chance of better/drier weather:

Early July (7/5)
Mid July (7/19)
Early August (8/2)
Mid August (8/16)
Cheryl: Best weather July through mid-August, but be prepared for damp chilly weather regardless of when you go. Temp range seems to be in the high 50's through low 70's in most of the ports at that time of year, with frequent rain.

We went the first week of August and had incredible weather. It got up to 82 a few days. We were told this was not the norm, but man did we love it. Only had rain for part of the day in Katchikan. The rest of the cruise was clear sailing!!LOVED it!

The very best Alaska cruise weather is generally found in the last two weeks of July and first two weeks of August although it is always possible to get a day or two of rain even during that time period.
Hi Cheryl,

Of the 5 times I sailed Alaska. All different months. It rained 4 times in Juneau but just in the morning. I remember when I drove to the Worthington Glacier on a hot clear day in July, it snowed.

Strange, it never rained in any of the other ports. Must be the luck of the draw.

Paul

Mid August this year we never got anything close to 80° weather. I wore turtlenecks a couple of times. A bit of light rain - not too bad.
