Is Fodors Board really SLOOOOW for you too?
Although I don't have trouble on other busy websites, on the occassions I look at Fodors' website it is always soooo slow!! It's like deja vu because I remember it being just as slow on other occassions when I used to visit. I thought this was suppose to be "fixed"...?? Is it just my computer or do other experience this?

Yes it is ungodly slow in comparison to websites of similar characteristics. Fodor's do you need some help? Time to upgrade your servers guys/gals.

Probably budget constraints now that everyone is cutting back on technolgy after the dot com busts.

Cassie, couldn't agree w/ you more! Registration killed the thing. Someone on another forum said that registration "bowdlerized" this Travel Talk Forum & the result is blandness. That about sums it up. It's laughable to read one of the posts (maybe on US board??) that asks if registration is going ok? Strikes me a preaching to the converted b/c the only people left around here (count me out! I just popped in for a sec to get my 2 cents worth in on this on!) are the ones who like registration. The sample is slighly skewed, don't you think??? Of course the people still here are going to like "the new post-registration" board or they wouldn't be here! It's a shame b/c it used to be an entertaining & informative place to visit. RIP

I HATE the registration-We have lost a ton of great posters-- And are losing more since this site is SOOOOOOOO slow to load, SLOW to let you post a response(that is,IF it will let you post a response) and is THE most frustrating board I have been on....

Is there ANY other TRAVEL FORUM where you can get the fast answers like we used to get on FODORS? If so, PLEASE POST!!

Thanks loads

Fodors is very slow really frustrating and I get cut off from my postings and then cannot even get into my cruise board, most times it will not open up. Wrote to them and they said they would pass my comment to production board. Suprised I can able to write this now!

It seems to go in spurts ... sometimes it responds decently (I have a dial-up modem that always shows a connection speed of 37,333 bps) so I'm NEVER fast!

Othertimes, I've experienced agonizingly slow loading of pages and have run out of patience before I could get a post to leave.

*sigh* I miss the banter, too. Its just not much fun anymore.

What have they done to our wonderful message board? They've ruined it, that's what. And why? I have to believe that it is so that they can gather information about the people who use this site. Otherwise, why would they bother? All I know is that it is not the same, and it is certainly not better for US. Slow, slow, slow, and a pain to use.

Hello there --

I just wanted to let you all know that Fodors.com is aware of the problems our users are experiencing on the site this week. We are working to fix the problem as soon as possible.

The reason for the slowness on the site is related to, believe it or not, Dr. Seuss's birthday (March 2). The spike in traffic on the Random House servers is affecting our site.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Caragh Rockwood
senior editor
Fodors.com
