Hello,
We are not going on our honeymoon until next August/September, so there is still a ton of time to research and bat about ideas. Here is what my fiance and I like/are interested in. Either a cruise to the Mediterranean or a new idea that my fiance is a bit more in favor of (I think for $ reasons and that the Euro is still beating the US Dollar) or an Alaskan cruise. In terms of cruises, we went on one to the Caribbean with Carnival a couple of years ago and I myself have been on a Disney cruise.
I know that right off the bat we are not interested in sailing on Carnival or NCL as they're not the kind of ships I want to go on for my honeymoon. So with that said, we like Princess (a bit pricey), Celebrity, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean.
The itineraries in Europe would be either originating in Venice and sailing down the Adriatic, visiting several of the Greek Isles or originating in Barcelona and visiting several ports in France and Italy. For the Alaska cruise, we would opt for one that left and returned from Seattle as that seems to be the least expensive for airfare. My vote would go for a cruise in the Mediterranean, but am open to new and unique ideas. Plus, I've noticed that Alaskan cruises are slightly less expensive and seems for the money we have, we might be able to go for higher tier accommodations (mini suite w/balcony as opposed to just balcony stateroom).
I've been on the forums here and also on cruise critic and don't know what to think of some of the ships and itineraries. Some people absolutely hate the ship while others write nothing but glowing reviews. We're not overly fussy and particular people, but we want out honeymoon trip to be once in a lifetime memorable, and just want to make the right choice. So, when keeping in mind the time of year we'd be going, and a ship's offerings/food/service, etc, I'd be most appreciative with whatever comments/advice/people have on the lines I mentioned above for the destinations.
I'm sorry I rambled so much but thanks in advance!

All of your choices are excellent. And you are likely to hav a great time in the Med or Alaska. As only a suggestion, NCL does have an excellent itinerary out of Venice to the Greek Isles, that would be superb as a 14 day back to back.

In Alaska, be advised that Seattle and Vancouver are easy to get between the two, with an overnight. Amtrak offers a great transfer option, also one way rental car, and buses. Reason, you may want to rethink round trip Seattle, is it's the least scenic of Alaska cruises, has the roughest sailing potential, and sometimes, not the best port times. IF you continue with a Seattle, then look at HAL, which has the winner itineraries.
Out of Barcelona, look for going as long as you can afford. Key again, is port times, many are not right near the ports. IF you don't want to pay and arm and leg with ship tours, going independent is significantly cheaper, but you need to TIME to do so. I did a 14 day MED cruise also this summer (along with Alaska) was gone 4 weeks in Europe. Hit some wonderful ports, with good timeframes. I did all my touring independently. As an example, in Rome I took the train for 9 euros which included local Rome transportation. Saw plenty, ship transportation was $110pp.
So look at the overall costs and determine what you want to see and do the most. Again, both excellent choices to consider.
Thank you so much BudgetQueen for your kind and in-depth response, including the tip on Seattle. I had no idea if what the least scenic of the Alaskan cruises. I would def. want to have the best vistas from start to finish. Again, I really appreciate it!
