I received the lowest quote on CruiseCompete from BonTour Travel. I have taken many cruises & always booked with agencies I've dealt with previously. However, since the prices of cruises seem to have gone up quite a bit this year, I'm looking to save some $.
I would appreciate your feedback if you have dealt with this company before. They are located in CA
Has anyone used this agency?

These quotes usually have user reviews of the agencies in them. I've found this to be a good source. But you can also contact CruiseCompete directly and ask them. I did this once about an agency and got a response directly from the CEO that really helped my comfort level.
I would call the cruise line directly and ask about this travel agency, how long have they dealt with them, any complaints.
Also check BBB (better business bureau) website.
have seen good reviews on the boards not used them personally
Recent great experience personally with priceline.com
vacationstogo.com saved up to 70% $400 on a Carib Balcony
$299 on a Italy Greece cruise out of Venice...
so might shop around a bit...
Dayenu has a good point (as usual). The BBB web site is: http://www.bbb.org
Not all agencies will be listed, though, as some are "outside agents"--essentially individuals working through a larger "host" agency. Some of the best service I've had has been from people working in this mode. I would say that no BBB listing wouldn't cause me to not do business with someone, but a bad rating certainly would.
If BBB shows nothing, it just means that they have not received any complaints. It is not an endorsement or means they are good. It just means unknown. A lot of unscrupulous operators keep changing the compnay names so BBB don't caught on. I alsways tries to use a local agent that I can meet face to face.
