Has anyone done a Mediterranean cruise this summer that included Istanbul or Venice? If so, how did you enjoy it and what made it special? Any excursions that you would recommend?
Has anyone been on the Seabourn Spirit this summer?

bonlou,
Go to "Cruise Critic Message Board" and click to Seabourn. There are several postings about the Spirit there. Also, you can posts your questions and receive answers from guests that have sailed Istanbul, etc. this summer.
Happy sailing!
I second the idea of going to the Cruise Critic boards. I was on the Spirit in February in Southeast Asia and loved the ship: the food and the service were wonderful. I have been to both Venice and Istanbul in the past on other cruises. In Istanbul, try to visit the Dolamichi (spelling?) Palace. They admit a limited number of visitors daily so there may not be a tour there.
When we were on the Spirit, rather than always take the group tours, we would book a private van for six of us arranged by the ship's tour desk. Then we could go where we wanted. It turned out to be the same price per person as the bus tours. We put our own groups together!
