Going on HAL for the first time on the new Amsterdam. would appreciate any comments on this new ship. We will have a mini-suite have heard nothing good or bad about this ship.

dear richard,
i just got back from the amsterdam's christmas cruise. she's a fine and fast ship with much that is commendable about her. i have little in the way of criticism except that there are some difficulties communicating with the filipino/indonesian cabin staff. hopefully your itinerary includes colombia but did not not for us. nicaragua was the highlight, the canal a close 2nd (aruba is not terribly impressive). be sure to bring a tux as there are a number of formal nights.

Hi Richard, we are also going on the Amsterdam 03/29/01 and was wondering about the entertainment on board. I had read on another board that the entertainment was really geared for the older crowd (Big Band music). Was there carribean style music around the pool?? We are really looking foward to this cruise. Our first on HAL, but will be our 17th cruise in 3 1/2 years. Thanks. John F

Thanks for your comments. We are leaving on the Amsterdam Jan. 18. What was it that impressed you about Nicaragua? Did you take any of the tours offerred? And how about any of the other tours that you liked. Could you comment please?
