I posted a message a few days ago about trying to locate a cabinmate for my mother for a 12/18 Galaxy 10 night cruise to the Caribbean. A cabinmate was lined up until recently, but she had to cancel due to financial difficulties. Without a cabinmate, she'll either have to pay over $3000 (compared to $1,895 ), or we'll have to cancel (my husband and I are booked on the cruise too). So, is it getting too late to try and find a cabinmate? Final payment is due in September. Where would you suggest I post other messages? I really thought people would have jumped at the chance for this cruise. Her friends simply do not want to be away from family over Christmas. I've checked with the lines that have 'single share' (i.e., Holland and Princess), but their rates for a 7 night are actually MORE and the itinerary doesn't even come close to what we have. So, suggestions? Thanks much!

Caroline,
The only help I can offer would be if you have access to AOL...you could post on 'Cruise Critic' Cruise Board [which is general], 'Cruise Potpourri' and their 'Celebrity' board. If your travel agt. is part of large 'consortium', think he/she could also assist.
Good luck.
A cruise site that seems to get a lot of activity is cruise2.com. I think I remember seeing a specific board for cabin sharing there, but if not, you could post a message in the general board. Doesn't Celebrity offer a share program, where they'll assign your mother a cabin mate? I'm almost sure they do, since I didn't want that and had to convince them that I was willing to pay the single fare! I think they match gender and smoking preference. That's probably your best bet; also, if you sign her up as a "share" but Celebrity can't find her a roommate, then she pays the share fare ($1,895) but gets the cabin by herself! You'll have to make a decision which way to go though, because you don't want to end up with two cabinmates (one from Celebrity and one via your posting.) Good luck!
