We are arriving in Lisbon on a cruise at 5:00 a.m. in early Dec. We are having problems booking a flight out but a reasonable one is available at 7:55 a.m. Anyone had experience with cruise/airport connections in Lisbon? Is this doable? thanks!

ABSOLUTELY NOT !!! Can I make it any plainer? Arriving at 5 AM does not mean you can get off at 5:05. You will be luck to depart by 6 or 6:30 if everything works to precision AND you can carry all of you luggage off the ship by yourself. I think the smart thing to do would be to spend the day or two in Lisbon and caught the 7:55 a couple days later.
Completely agree with Fmpden!
Me, too!!
Sorry, I don't think you can count on making it.
None. No chance.
How far is the airport from the dock? We had the same circumstances timewise in Copenhagen. Our ship came in at 0500 and we had a flight 0800. The airport was about 20 mins. away and we were literally off the ship by 0510 and at the airport at 0535. There was little traffic and it ws a breeze for us. Just lucky??
Larry, didn't you go through customs? How could you be done in 10 mins?
Nope. We did self disembarking of course and we were actually the 2nd group off the ship. I recall watching the crew getting the gangplank ready. We did customs at the airport when we left the country. We were not required to do so for leaving the ship.
I knew someone would say that this worked for them. In a perfect world it might. But do you really want to risk it - and risk losing the flight and fare and have to fight to make other arrangements.
The question here is what is the perception of risk. Its a very early time to dock so there won't be traffic. Then figure how far the airport is away from the pier. If you are prepared to leave at 0500 will there be many ahead of you too? I doubt it would be enough to make a difference. Then be sure make arrangements for a taxi or transportation to the airport. Weight all the factors first and then determine the risk. I would not give a knee jerk relexive "no way" until I sorted it all out. During this same cruise our traveling companions said "no way, its too risky" to use a Russian tour company in SBP. I think they equated Russia with the Red Menace.
. Now I had researched it extensively and found several that got high marks inc. Alla, Denrus and Red October. However to keep peace we used the ship sponsored tour. We paid as much or more and had to use vehicles with a larger capacity but did we benefit from them vs. one of the Russian companies? I doubt it. Anyway I say look into it first B4 saying it will not work. If the airport is close then you chances improve. If its an hour away and with two hrs. needed for intl. check in its a different scenario. JM2C. Good luck. Larry
I found a solution. I'm going with Larry on the next cruise
LOL! I think we have a blast.
.
The reason I could not do it is I would spend a good part of the cruise worrying "will I make my flight" and ruin it for myself.
Thats cool. Its an individual comfort level thing I suppose.
For a domestc flight, I might chance it. For an international flight, I wouldn't.
