Hi Linda!
When is your cruise? My husband and I are scheduled for Enchantment June 2 and are going with our children (8,9) also. If you have gone by the time you receive this message would you please email me direct or if I'm going before you I'll return the favor when we get back. Thanks so much!

Linda--Check out RCCL's web site for a list of shore excursions in
Costa Maya. We went on the Enchantment last Oct with our 9 yr old and had a wonderful time. All the things you asked about were good and we've been on over 15 cruises. Costa Maya is a cruise dock only, out of the way port built by the government with no city to speak of, in the heart of a mangrove swamp. It does have a small shopping area, a free cultural show, free use of their salt water pool and chairs and a small beach. It is primary a jumping off place for visiting some of the lesser known Mayan Ruins(which we loved) that the gov't is trying to promote. IMHO this is the port to visit the Mayan ruins(if that is your interest) and save your Shopping and beach/snorkling for Cozumel. Happy

Enchantment of the Seas is absolutely enchanting! It is a great ship and RCCL is a great cruise line. Highly recommend excursions since you'll be visiting places that are either fun (e.g. Cozumel) or places you'll likely never visit again (e.g. Costa Maya). Excursions are a little pricey but you're on vacation and it's no time to save. Costa Maya is a fairly long bus ride to Mayan Ruins but how often do you see that type of thing? If you take that excusion, be prepared for so climbing and walking. But it's fun. In Cozumel we did the beach excusion and it was great -- all you can drink, pool, beach, etc. Kids program is very good for kids under 12. Food is generally quite good and the service was terrific.

We did the Uvero Beach break here through the ship (I was on the Grand Princess but RCCL offers this also).
We loved it. The water is so beautiful there.
Here are pictures of our beach trip - just scroll down until you see pictures that say Uvero beach. Ther are also pictures of the local area in Costa Maya:
