Does HAL have Alask bargains?
Been doing my research intently for a few weeks. We plan to take a Hal cruise one way Vancouver to Seward the one that includes College Fjords. Are there discounts to be had on these HAL voyages and if so please point me in the right direction. Thanks Helen

You are best to get on several online email lists of cruise only agencies. Compare several for pricing. I've used www.cruisecompete.com the last 4 cruises with excellent pricing.

I am finding the balcony cabins are not going to be easy to secure and I would have sprung for one. My next question is outside vs inside. One time we had an outside and the view was worthless. Should I just go or inside and spend our money on various excursions? H

We have sailed many many times and have always had inside cabins and found them to be quite adequate. I always thik I get the same food, entertainment and facilities as other guests spending twice as much. People here said I should make an exception on an Alaskan cruise as the views are so great. I don't know that a window over the bed is worth the extra expense. Hey guys there are so many decisions to make for our first trip to Alaska. I haven't even begun to think about lodgings for our road trip once cruise is done. Helen

I think a balcony is better than an outside cabin for Alaska. Especially because you will be able to hear and see those calving glaciers. And there's just more of a view with those floor to ceiling windows as opposed to a window.
Have you tried cruisequick.com? they are strictly email, you must know exactly which sailing and cabin category, but they do come in cheaper. I recently booked five cabins with them for a family Canada/New England cruise on HAL - they were $100 less per person - that's a grand! And they included two bottles of wine per cabin and photo and dinner at Pinnacle.
PS Don't buy your trip insurance from them or from the cruiseline. Go to insuremytrip.com for better prices and coverage.

I tried Cruisequick but they were still a bit higher than cruisecompete. I will be getting insurance so who has had the best prices and experience with which trip insurance company? h

I would definitely get an ocean view cabin if not a balcony. You sail close to shore unlike being on the open ocean. We saw whales from our cabin window.
Your bed may not be under the window. Rooms are not always as pictured in the brochure/website. If you have a balcony,it won't be under the window for sure!!
