I'm considering a short cruise for our group of 4 mature women. We can't do more than 5 nights due to schedule reasons and it has to be in early March. All I can find out of the West Coast or New Orleans is Carnival, and I don't think that's the line for us. Any others that you know of? Can't find anything on the cruise websites, but thought there might smaller lines that don't pop up on those sites.
Does anyone know of 3-5 night cruises from the West Coast or New Orleans area other than Carnival?

we did a four day to mexico a few years ago on royal caribbean- did you check them?
I think you are out of luck. Princess and NCL both have cruises from LA, but I don't think they do shorter than 7 days.
I know the short Carnival cruises tend to be a bit party-oriented, but I'd give them a second look. The food is good, the cabins are good-sized, and there are a lot of options.
If you can get to Florida (either Miami or Fort Lauderdale), you will have other options. Another possibility is just to scrap the cruise idea and go either to the Wine Country or to a spa retreat. It won't be as cheap, though.
Actually I agree with Doug. Carnival has that image but things have changed since their beginning days. You may want to give them a 2nd look.
Cruise lines, like Carnival, these days have something for everyone. Yes certain lines are geared mostly towards a certain group. Like Disney, 80% of the ship is for families. But most other lines do a great job of having something for everyone.
Carnival has this reputation of being a party ship, and they are to a degree. But on a 110,000 ton ship if you do not want to be in the party and want a quiet spot to relax, then you can find that also.
As for cruises under 5 nights. You might check Royal Caribbean out of LA. I think they have one that goes around the Mexican Riviera for a few days. The lion's share of the 3-5 day cruises will be out of Miami, Port Canaveral or Ft. Lauderdale.
I searched Yahoo! travel for the Mex. Riv. for that time frame and lenght of cruise. All I saw was CCL.
if it's not too late, there's a ncl mexico trip from new orleans for 5 nights. think you might want a look. have been on that one twice and it's fantasic. no partying, at least we didn't see anything like that.
Another possibility are the re-positioning cruises from 1 West Coast port to another at the season change.
We did Vancouver to San Diego -4 days on Holland America last fall and are looking at LA to Vancouver - 3 days in May of this year. No port calls, just zipping along the coast.
Of course, you have then get home from the destination port.
