My husband & I, who are in our late 50's, are thinking about cruising from NY to Bermuda around June or July. If you have any recommendations about any cruise lines, we appreciate hearing from you.

Dear Mary,
Replying to your request for information on ships sailing to Bermuda,
I believe you would be most satisfied
on a Celebrity cruise. However, keep in mind that once school closes for the summer, this is a perfect vacation for families with children and the ships, all of them, fill quickly with families. If you desire a more adult cruise, consider going off season -- either early to mid June or September. If you desire additional information -- we've sailed eight times to Bermuda and I am also in my late 50's, just Email me. In fact, we're booked for the September 9th sailing on the Horizon.
Gloria
Dear Mary,
I am a travel agent and have sailed to Bermuda on all ships. I have always sailed during Jul. & Aug. I have not counted more than 20 kids on any ship. No. 1, the price is too high and No. 2, Bermuda town fathers have limited the number of passengers a ship is allowed to carry, i.e. very few 3rd and 4th in a cabin.
As far as ships, I find them all perfect, except for Norwegian who has pulled out, thank goodness.
I do lean towards Celebrity, but it is quite a bit expensive.
Princess has a new contract and although I have been on the ship I have not sailed her to
Bermuda. They also have the best itinerary since it ports at all three (King's Wharf, St. George and Hamilton). They are quite reasonable (for Bermuda, that is).
Not much to see in King's Wharf but the beaches are fine and the buses and ferries are cheap. Food is expensive all over (eat on the ship).
Royal Caribbean has an excellent price for Aug. 27th ($799 pp). BUT BOOK QUICK!!!!
My husband and I have cruised to Bermuda a number of times (on Celebrity, NCL and RCCL) and I would definitely recommend Celebrity. Our last cruise there was August of 99 on the Zenith. Excellent food and service and the ships have a lovely understated elegance. During the summer, you will find lots of kids ( we had over 200 on our last one) but the kids program seems to keep them busy except sometimes later in the evening they got a little wild. They NY to Bermuda route is very popular with New Yorkers and others from the nearby area, as no air is involved. Contrary to popular belief, you can get the same kind of good deals on Celebrity as on other lines if you shop around. Bermuda is a beautiful island - clean, safe, friendly, gorgeous beaches and very easy to get around. The trip from NY to Bermuda is a little rougher than the Caribbean, just the nature of the Atlantic but never been that bad. We are in our late 40's and have been on 16 cruises on many different lines to many destinations and Celebrity to Bermuda is definitely one of the best!
