Cruise room options for three people

We are three 50 year old women who are planning a Carribean cruise in early 2016. I know we could do a standard room with two twins and a pull out bed, but what are the other options?

It is likely you will have to check each cruise line individually to find out the options for three in a cabin. You might find the information with a good deal of research on Cruise Critic, but it would be better, IMHO, to deal with a travel agent of your choice. It costs nothing extra to use a cruise specialist, and often they offer discounts from the posted prices.

vacationstogo website has an option to sort cruises with the lowest single supplement. You may be able to find a cruise with a low enough supplement to get 2 cabins.

I would check the individual cruise lines to see what they offer in your price range. We had a lovely "veranda suite" on Silver Sea that would have worked for 3 people as it had a sitting area that was also a pullout couch. Bathroom was enormous as ws the walk in closet.

Hi, I have done 4 cruises with my sister and husband. We tried to always stay in budget as they did not offer any discount(on the ships we used) for that third person so I ended up paying the same but maybe $50 discount. Anyway we told them when we booked we could not do the bunk bed thing so we got a room with a double bed and the rollaway bed. Worked out perfect as there is enough room to roll it out everynight but had to fold up to be able to walk around. Some ships tell you what they can offer for that third person but the balcony with the pull out bed from couch is best but of course you have to pay the extra for a balcony room. If you have the $$ go balcony...it's well worth the money when 3 is in the room

We were in a cabin that had sort of a Murphy bed folded out of the wall just under the ceiling. Only 2 of us, so didn't use. Trying to remember which ship - probably Vision, Royal Caribbean.

There was a ladder under our bed for that bed in the wall.

We were recently in a Royal Caribbean room that had beds that came down from the ceiling, from what I could tell. There were ladders in the closet.

The ship we were on was Legend, but she is going to Asia for 2016. Maybe others in the same class (Vision) are similar.

RCI often seems to have buy one get one half off, or 3rd guest free.

The first Carnival cruise we took had a couch that folded into a bed for DS. I'm having trouble remembering which ship, but I think it might have been the Glory.

Dad and I didn't need it, but the Pride had a similar arrangement (outside cabin-lower deck).

The most comfortable option would be a double-cabin with a single-cabin across directly the hall. This would give you two bathrooms and is generally cheaper than a suite.

A suite is another option, but they are often more expensive than a single + double. Some cruise lines offer so-called "family" cabins that are larger and have a better set-up, sometimes with a more private, separate sleeping area.

But the availability varies widely by cruise line. Some cruise line cabins are just larger in general and accommodate a third person more easily.
