Does anyone have any thoughts or actual experience with Carnival’s Cruise Vacation Protection Plan? It's $79/pp and I am going with my wife and two kids. I am planning to decline but I thought I'd see what others recommend. Thanks.

I always buy insurance from "insuremytrip" - see what they offer, compare prices and coverage.
Only you can decide if you need insurance. How much are you willing to risk? Do you have worldwide medical coverage?
I would insure the trip, but I generally do not buy cruise-line policies. You can almost certainly find a plan for less than $79 per person depending on the cost of your cruise.
I am going on my first cruise in May. I am getting my insurance through Triple A. $123.00 per couple for an 8 day cruise.
