We took the Victory last year to NS and had a great time. Having said that, we are booked on the Serenade this year, the ship is brand new and they are offering lower prices than Carnival. How can you beat that combination?

I'm not sure where Romy heard that analogy, but I have been on several cruises and don't agree that Carnival is the "Wal-Mart" of cruises. I would say both Carnival and RCL are at the top of the list in terms of value. Carnival is definitely more of a party, where RCL is more conservative. We sailed on the Victory in May of this year. I have never had a better vacation. By the way, there are several beers that are more exquisite than champagnes. For family fun, Carnival is the way to go.

Dear Timger if you want the most bang for your buck I'd go with Carnival. For the cruise your looking for NY to Canada make sure your on the cruise that comes to Nova Scotia. eoither the one that comes into Halifax or Sydney Cape Breton. These 2 places had a charm all there own, If you are booking with them ask about the shore excursions the offer for both places or book a local tour company down here. you'll be glad you did. anyway have fun no matter where you go Carnival treats there customers great...
